It was formed two-three million years ago, when a huge volcanic mountain, rivalling Mt. Kilimanjaro in size, exploded and collapsed on itself. Thanks to its physical beauty as well as its status as one of the finest game viewing areas in Africa, this crater has been dubbed by some as the 8th Wonder of the World! Overnight in Ngorongoro.

Day 2: NGORONGORO – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (B, L, D)

After breakfast you will be taken for a tour of the Ngorongoro Crater. After you descend into the crater you have great chances of seeing some of the many kinds of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor – including zebras, buffaloes, hyenas, wildebeests and lions. The Ngorongoro Crater was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979, as part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which includes two other volcanos. Later we drive to Serengeti national Park. Overnight at Serengeti.

It is famed for its annual migration, during which when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles join the wildebeests’ trek in search of fresh grazing lands. At other times too, the Serengeti National Park offers scintillating game-viewing: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Overnight in Serengeti.

Day 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – LAKE MANYARA (B, L, D)

Early in the morning you are driven to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s smaller and most underrated parks. Here hot springs, heated by underground volcanic activity, flow over sulphur-encrusted rocks into the lake. Here you may see hippopotami, families of elephants, or even Lake Manyara’s famous population of tree-climbing lions (although sighting them is becoming increasingly rare). There are great birdwatching opportunities too. Overnight in Lake Manyara.
