ITINERARY 


 
 
Day 1/May 3: TORONTO – MADRID

Board Air Canada’s direct flight to Madrid from Toronto.

Day 2/May 4: MADRID

Meet and greet upon arrival at Madrid airport and transfer to your hotel. Local sightseeing in the afternoon includes Santiago Bernadeu Stadium, the Cibeles Square and other well-known points of interest in the city. Dinner & overnight at the Hotel Puerta De Toledo. (B, D)

Day 3/May 5:  MADRID – TOLEDO – MADRID

Full day trip to Toledo a city of great artistic beauty which was the capital of the country and one of the oldest cities in Europe. Upon arrival we will participate in a walking tour and admire the beautiful Cathedrals and other monuments. Return to Madrid in the afternoon, free time to explore. Overnight at the hotel. (B)


Day 4/May 6:
MADRID – SEGOVIA – LA GRANJA – MADRID        

After breakfast we will visit Segovia which was an important military center during the Roman times, followed by a visit to the last Gothic
Cathedral
built in Spain and Europe and Alcazar, the most spectacular castle in the country. We will end the day at the Royal palace of La Granja, which was formally the spectacular baroque style summer residence of the King of Spain. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 5/May 7: MADRID – ÁVILA – SALAMANCA

After breakfast we visit Avila the birth place of Santa Theresa de Jesus. A great Roman wall surrounds the city which stands guard to much of its monumental treasures. We then proceed to Salamanca, a University City par excellence known for its architectural richness. We will enjoy a city tour
including Plaza Mayor, Casa de las Conchas, the Cathedrals and the University. Dinner & overnight at Hotel Exe Salamanca(B, D)Day


6/May 8:
SALAMANCA – PORTO

Today we cross the Spanish border and enter Porto in beautiful Portugal. We will drive by the main attractions and monuments including Avenida dos Aliados, Rua de Santa Catarina and Rua das Flores. We will end this day at Ribeiria, a world UNESCO World Heritage site. Dinner & overnight at Hotel Eurostars Oporto (B, D)

Day 7/May 9: PORTO

Today is a free day to enjoy this beautiful city at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 8/May 10: PORTO – COIMBRA – FÁTIMA – SINTRA – LISBON

After breakfast we depart for Coimbra where we will stop briefly in the historic center of the student city. We then proceed to Fatima where you will have the opportunity to explore El Satuario de Fatima at your leisure. We will briefly visit picturesque Sintra and end this exciting day in Lisbon.
Dinner & overnight at Hotel Novotel Lisbon. (B, D)

Day 9/ May 11:  LISBON – ÓBIDOS – LISBON

We start with a full day city tour of Lisbon passing through the Alfama district birth place of Saint Anthony and explore Belem Tower which is a symbol of Lisbon and the Jeronimous Monastery. We then visit the city of Obidos, a tiny city, which is a hidden gem with some of the most authentic and interesting medieval Portuguese architecture where Romans and Arabs left their mark. Enjoy Dinner at your leisure and overnight at your Lisbon hotel. (B)

Day 10/May 12:  LISBON – CÁCERES – SEVILLE

Today we head back to the Spanish border to arrive at the world heritage city of Caceres with impressive historic buildings dating back to the 14th and
16th century. We will enjoy a walking tour of the city to see Plaza Mayor and the old medieval district.  After our tour we continue to Seville. Overnight & dinner at Hotel Virgen De Los Reyes.

Day 11/May 13: SEVILLE – RONDA – COSTA DEL SOL

After breakfast in this magnificent city we will drive by Maria  Luisas park, the University, the Americas square and the Pavilions built in 1929 by the Iberoamerican Fair. We will do a partial walking tour covering points of interest in Seville and depart to Ronda one of the oldest cities in Spain. We will pass through the Andalusian white villages. After a hectic day we proceed to the international beach side resort of La Costa Del Sol.
Overnight & dinner at Hotel Hilton Garden Inn Malaga. (B, D)

Day 12/May 14: COSTA DEL SOL – GRANADA

Enjoy some free time in the morning, and then we leave for  Granada located on the foothills on the Sierra Nevada mountain range. We will then tour the most visited monument in Spain, the Al Hambra where we will explore the Nazarite Palaces and the Generalife gardens. Overnight & dinner at Hotel Saray. (B, D)


Day 13/ May 15:
GRANADA – ALICANTE – VALENCIA

After breakfast we go to Alicante where you will have free time to walk around the city on your own and admire the unique location between the mountains and the sea. We then continue to Valencia. Overnight & dinner at Hotel Exe Rey Don Jame. (B, D)

Day 14/ May 16: VALENCIA – BARCELONA

After breakfast we have free time to explore Valencia to visit the City of the Arts and Sciences. We then leave for Barcelona. Overnight & dinner at Hotel Expo Barcelona.

Day 15/ May 17: BARCELONA

In the morning we visit Spain square, Mount Montjuic where we will see the magnificent city port and continue towards Columbus avenue and then to the historic Gothic Quarters. We will then proceed for a walking tour through St Jaume square, the town hall and the Gothic Cathedral. Farewell dinner & overnight at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 16/ May 18: BARCELONA

After breakfast you have a free day to enjoy Barcelona and catch up on your shopping and sightseeing, or participate in optional tours. Your day is yours to do
as you please! Overnight at the hotel (B)

Day 17/ May 19: BARCELONA

After breakfast we say Adios to our amigos in Spain and transfer to the airport for the international flight home.
